New Upcoming Movies in 2012 - Part 1

Looking for the best new upcoming movies in 2012? Then look no further! I'm putting together a list of trailers of all the movies I think look like the ones to watch out for this year.

There are loads of new movies coming out in 2012 so I'm going to break this up into at least 4 parts, the first being movies from January through to March. The next will be April through May, and so on, you get the idea. I'll also do a fifth part of movies that don't currently have a release date but are slated to come out this year and are worth casting an eye on.

So without further ado, check out the list of new upcoming movies in 2012. Enjoy!

JANUARY

The Darkest Hour
Kick starting the year with this sci-fi action horror. In Moscow, five young people lead the charge against an alien race who have attacked Earth via our power supply. From the director of Wanted. Starring Emile Hirsch.

Haywire
Like a female Jason Bourne, Haywire tells the story of a black ops super soldier seeking payback after she is betrayed and set up during a mission. Starring newcomer Gina Carano, Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor and more! Look out for this one

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance
Sequel to the original which was admittedly pretty poor but still fun. This one however looks to have much higher production values and the trailer features some great initial footage. Starring Nic Cage and Idris Elba.
UK Release Date: 17 February 2012
MARCH

Wanderlust
This looks super funny. Sudden unemployment forces a Manhattan couple into alternative living options, ultimately deciding to experiment with living on a rural commune where free love rules. Starring Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston.
UK Release Date: 2 March 2012

John Carter
This is one movie I'm most looking forward to this year. Original story by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the creator of Tarzan, this is a sci-fi movie that inspired George Lucas to make Star Wars and James Cameron to make Avatar. This trailer looks great, I just hope the movie holds up! Starring Taylor Kitsch and Willem Dafoe.
UK Release Date: 9 March 2012

The Raven
A fictionalized account of the last days of Edgar Allan Poe's life, in which the poet pursues a serial killer whose murders mirror those in the writer's stories. From the director of V For Vendetta. Starring John Cusack and Alice Eve.

Mirror Mirror: The Untold Adventures of Snow White
There are two Snow White movies coming out this year and this is the first of them. Starring Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen.

A reboot of the TV series of the same name. A pair of underachieving cops are sent back to a local high school to blend in and bring down a synthetic drug ring. Starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, and even an appearance by Johnny Depp, who was in the original TV show!
UK Release Date: 16 March 2012

The Hunger Games
Looking like a combination of Battle Royale and some teenage angst from Twilight, this could be one of the early hits of the year. From the best selling novels, in a future where the Capitol selects a boy and girl from the twelve districts to fight to the death on live television, Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her younger sister's place for the latest match. Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Donald Sutherland, Stanley Tucci, Woody Harrelson and more.
UK Release Date: 23 March 2012

Wrath of the Titans
Sequel to Clash of the Titans. Perseus embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, who has been targeted for capture by his traitorous son, Ares, and his brother, Hades. Starring Sam Worthington and Liam Neeson.
