New Upcoming Movies in 2012 - Part 3


And so continues my trailer fest of the best new upcoming movies in 2012. This is a list of trailers of all the movies I think look like the ones to watch out for this year.


This is the Part 3 for the months of July, August and September. Don't forget to check out Part 1Part 2 and Part 4 of New Upcoming Movies in 2012. I'll also do a fifth part of movies that don't currently have a release date but are slated to come out this year and are worth checking out.

JULY

The Amazing Spider-Man
The next of this Summer's superhero blockbusters. Spider-Man is being rebooted again after the first trilogy featuring Toby McGuire. Starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, the brilliant Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as The Lizard.

Ice Age 4: Continental Drift
Scrat's back! Manny, Diego, and Sid embark upon another adventure after their continent is set adrift. Using an iceberg as a ship, they encounter sea creatures and battle pirates as they explore a new world.

The Dark Knight Rises
Another superhero movie. Eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, the terrorist leader Bane arrives in Gotham City, pushing it and its police force to their limits, forcing its former hero Batman to resurface after taking the fall for Harvey Dent's crimes. Directed by Christopher Nolan. Starring Christian Bale at Bats and Tom Hardy as Bane.

Dr. Seuss' The Lorax
A 12-year-old boy searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world. Starring the voices of Zac Efron, Taylor Swift and Danny DeVito as The Lorax.

AUGUST

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
President Lincoln's mother is killed by a supernatural creature, which fuels his passion to crush vampires and their slave-owning helpers. Directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted).

Ted
A live action movie about a man and his teddy bear, which comes to life as the result of a childhood wish. Starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis. Directed by Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy)

Brave
The next Disney animation. Determined to make her own path in life, Princess Merida defies a custom that brings chaos to her kingdom. Granted one wish, Merida must rely on her bravery and her archery skills to undo a beastly curse. Set in Scotland an starring the voices of Billy Connolly and Emma Thompson.

The Bourne Legacy
So, Matt Damon is out and Jeremy Renner is in. Tony Gilroy (who did Bourne Supremacy and Identity) is back on directing duty. Set in the universe based on Robert Ludlum's novels.

Neighbourhood Watch
Suburban dads form a neighbourhood watch group to get time away from their families, only to discover a plot to destroy Earth. Starring Jonah Hill, Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Billy Crudup.

Total Recall (2012)
A reboot of the 1990 original starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. As the nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai vie for supremacy, a factory worker begins to suspect that he's a spy, though he is unaware which side of the fight he's on. Starring Colin Farrell as Quaid.

Update: Warm Bodies was removed as it's release date moved to 2013.

Update: Sinister was removed as it's release date is no longer available in the UK. It may be out in October or November.

SEPTEMBER

Welcome To The Punch
When a notorious criminal is forced to return to London, it gives a detective one last chance to take down the man he's always been after. An action-heavy thriller starring James McAvoy and Mark Strong.

Resident Evil: Retribution
With the trailer opening looking like it's an advert for Sony products (tut, tut) this next addition in the series, starring Milla Jovovitch, looks like it will be as action packed and CGI heavy as the rest. Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. Also starringMichelle Rodriguez.

ParaNorman
A misunderstood boy who can speak with the dead, takes on ghosts, zombies and grown-ups to save his town from a centuries-old curse. Starring the voice of Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Casey Affleck and John Goodman.

Dredd
I quite enjoyed the first Judge Dredd movie with Sylvester Stallone. I know quite a few purists didn't like the fact he took off his helmet for most of the film, and in this new film, Karl Urban will most certainly not be taking his off. Written by Alex Garland (28 Days Later).

Premium Rush
In Manhattan, a bike messenger picks up an envelope that attracts the interest of a dirty cop, who pursues the cyclist throughout the city. Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Savages
Two pot growers face off against the Mexican drug cartel who kidnapped their shared girlfriend. Starring Aaron Johnson, Taylor Kitsch, Benicio Del Toro, Uma Thurman and John Travolta.
