Ok, so this is TV but it's movie related, to TRON and TRON: Legacy that is. Forget a trailer, this is a preview of TRON: Uprising, the new TV show based on the movie airing on Disney XD.
You can catch a preview of the show entitled Beck's Beginning below. It is restricted to the US though, so you may need to use something like Proxtube to view it.
Beck is a young mechanic living in Argon City, a growing metropolis in a far off corner of the grid that has just been occupied by General Tesler, a henchman of the notorious Clu. Beck ends up seeking justice for a lost friend and launches a crusade against the regime. His rebellion captures the attention of TRON, the greatest warrior The Grid has ever known, who sees the potential in Beck and trains him to be his successor.
I really like the visual styling of the show with 3D cel shaded graphics and animation mashed together. If you recognise any of the voices, that's because it's Elijah Wood as Beck, and Bruce Boxleitner as TRON. Mandy Moore also provides additional vocal talent.
There are some great little touches in there reminiscent of the films. Voices and sounds effects when rounding programs up for the games are similar to the same scene in Legacy. The flying transport vehicles, Recognizers, also have familiar sounds effects. Beck sports some really cool boots that look like trainers as part of his suit.
A UK release date is set for September 2012, with a special preview screening of TRON: Uprising Beck's Beginning in August. For US folks, TRON: Uprising premiered on Thursday, June 7 at 9 p.m. ET on Disney XD.
So, before TRON 3 arrives, this will do very nicely thank you!
